Lewis Hamilton is not only embarking on his first season with Ferrari, but also his first year as teammate to Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque is entering his seventh season with the Scuderia, making it challenging for Ferrari to establish a hierarchy within the team. For now, Hamilton is looking forward to working with his new teammate.
Lewis Hamilton is about to begin his new adventure with Ferrari. The Brit was seen in Ferrari red for the first time last Tuesday at the F1 75 event in London. During the same evening, the seven-time world champion looked ahead to his collaboration with new teammate Charles Leclerc.
Hamilton immediately joked that the Ferrari drivers will “definitely get into trouble” during their time together in Maranello. However, the collaboration has been “drama-free” so far. “I think there has always been a mutual respect between us,” the Brit says. “Outside of racing, we have a few things we can discuss, and we get along very well.”
Team Orders
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier this month that the first races of the season will determine which of the two Ferrari drivers will take the leading role within the team. Ferrari would therefore not be afraid to give team orders to Hamilton and Leclerc, should the racing stable indeed deem it necessary. Yet, Hamilton predicts that the two drivers will certainly ‘have fun’ from the opening race in Australia. “I’m sure we’re going to push each other this year and move forward together as teammates to try and bring this team forward,” the Brit concludes.
