While anticipating a challenging start to the season, New Zealand driver Liam Lawson is ambitious with Red Bull, which he joined this winter.
Liam Lawson, the new teammate of Max Verstappen at Red Bull, said: “I think today, it becomes much more real being here. This was the first time I had a confirmed seat before the season break. Honestly, it felt strange because normally, I don’t really have time to think about it. For a while, I didn’t feel like it was real. The team’s goal hasn’t really changed. We are all here to win, we are all here for that sole reason.”
Upon entering Formula 1, the goal was to do good work and move up to the main team (Red Bull). I was fortunate enough to achieve that, so I got closer to this goal, but there is still a lot to do. At the start of the season, I’m going to many circuits that I don’t know. There are high expectations. So it’s very exciting, but I also expect it to be the most challenging season of my career.”
(*) He made his debut with AlphaTauri in August 2023 at Zandvoort, where he replaced Daniel Ricciardo, who was injured during free practice. Last season, he took the Australian’s place at Racing Bulls for the last six races of the year, as he was not performing well enough in the eyes of his leaders.
