Kevin Magnussen will remain with Haas in the upcoming Formula 1 season, despite losing his regular spot as a driver. Team boss Ayao Komatsu has confirmed that the Danish driver will take on a new role within the team.

Returning to the Roots

Although Magnussen will no longer be on the grid weekly, he will remain closely involved with the American team. His primary task will be testing older Formula 1 cars as part of Haas’s TPC program (Testing of Previous Cars). This initiative provides the team with valuable data by testing cars from two seasons ago, thereby creating reference points for Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman. In addition, Magnussen will work in the Toyota simulator. This collaboration is possible thanks to the technical partnership that Haas established with the Japanese manufacturer last year.

Endurance Challenges with BMW

Magnussen will combine his work at Haas with a new challenge in long-distance racing. The Dane has been signed as a factory driver for BMW M Motorsport in their Hypercar program. This means he will participate in championships such as IMSA and WEC, including a possible participation in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the exact details of his program have not yet been announced by BMW.

In addition to his new role, it is expected that Magnussen will also be available as a reserve driver for a number of Formula 1 races in 2025. Although no definitive arrangements have been made yet, discussions between Magnussen and Haas are ongoing.
