Former football coach Jürgen Klopp has embarked on a new role at Red Bull, hoping to learn from colleague Max Verstappen right away. The German is keen to discuss racing tactics with the Dutchman and understand how he maintains such intense focus at high speeds. Klopp hopes to use this information to make Red Bull’s football projects a success.
Jürgen Klopp, who spent many years as the coach of Premier League football club Liverpool, has now taken up an advisory role at Red Bull GmbH. As the Head of Global Soccer for the energy drink company, the German has been on the job since January 1, 2025. This makes Klopp an indirect colleague of Red Bull racing driver Max Verstappen.
Learning from Verstappen
The former footballer told ServusTV what he hopes to learn from the Dutchman for Red Bull’s football projects. “I want to figure out how Mr. Verstappen, who has the best focus when he’s going 300 km/h through a 180-degree turn and things like that, does it,” the German explains. “And I have no idea how that works, so maybe he can explain it.”
The new Red Bull advisor hopes to translate these tactics into success within the Red Bull football teams. “I would love to learn, even from other sports. They (the drivers) are at their best when it’s most dangerous, so come on, give me that information and I’ll try to translate it into football,” Klopp concludes.
