Is Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar finally getting a promotion to Formula 1? The French-Argentinian driver is notably absent from the 2025 line-up of Campos Racing, his current team in Formula 2. This opens the way for the F2 driver to make his debut in the premier class.

The 2024 season has wrapped up, and all eyes are now on the upcoming year in Formula 1. Red Bull’s sister team, Visa RB, is officially the only team with a spot left in the premier class for 2025. With ongoing rumors about the future of the underperforming Sergio Pérez, anything could happen within the Austrian racing stable. The path is certainly clear for Isack Hadjar to make his Formula 1 debut.

Campos Racing, Hadjar’s current team, announced they will not continue with the driver in 2025. The team has chosen Pepe Martí and Arvid Lindblad, who will make his Formula 2 debut in 2025. This leaves Hadjar without a seat for the next Formula 2 season.”The driver has been part of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2022, and has raced in the feeder series for the past two seasons. In 2024, he did so as a driver for the Campos Racing team, and with great success. The French-Argentinian finished second in the drivers’ championship, narrowly losing to champion and future Sauber driver Gabriel Bortoleto. In 2024, Hadjar also had the opportunity to drive in two free practice sessions for Red Bull, during the Grands Prix of Great Britain and Abu Dhabi. He also got behind the wheel of the RB20 during the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.

Lawson or Tsunoda?

If Hadjar indeed moves up to Formula 1, it is likely that the young driver will take the wheel of a Visa RB car. Current driver for Red Bull’s sister team, Liam Lawson, could then move up to Red Bull, should the team indeed decide to let Sergio Pérez go. The New Zealander is considered to have the best credentials for a Red Bull promotion, but engine supplier Honda would prefer Yuki Tsunoda as Max Verstappen’s teammate.
