A new book celebrating the award-winning Formula 1 cars of Michael Schumacher is set to be released at the end of this month. The celebrated German was the first driver to secure seven world titles in the premier class of motorsport, five of which he won behind the wheel of a Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton, who also hopes to shine for Scuderia next year, penned the foreword for this new book.
The compilation celebrates the cars with which Michael Schumacher conquered his championships. From the Benetton B194 to the Ferrari F2004, all the racing cars are extensively highlighted. The foreword is written by Lewis Hamilton, the second driver to achieve seven championship wins. Next year, Hamilton – just like Schumacher once did – will make the switch to Ferrari. The big question is whether he can secure his illustrious eighth title there.
“Michael (Schumacher) is one of the legends in our sport,” Hamilton wrote in the book. “When you grow up with a passion for motorsport, you always look up to certain people. Without a doubt, Michael was one of those role models for young drivers. His speed, his work ethic, his determination, and his consistency are unmatched. We must continue to admire his long career and all his top performances.
Role Model
Hamilton also pays attention to the private life of the acclaimed German, who was known off the track as a dedicated family man. “When it comes to his legacy, I focus mainly on who he was as a person,” says Hamilton. “I’m not so much interested in titles or trophies, but in the family that he and Corinna have built. Their greatness, humility, and sincerity say much more about what kind of person Michael Schumacher really was.”
Since his severe skiing accident in 2013, Michael Schumacher has not appeared in public. Only his family, lawyer, and care staff know his current condition. Despite his absence, he is still often mentioned as one of the greatest drivers of all time. Max Verstappen is also regularly compared to ‘Schumi’.
