Reportedly, Ferrari is planning significant changes to its car for 2025. When seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton arrives in Maranello, a completely new vehicle will need to be built. Several crucial elements will be altered compared to the current SF-24, with particular adjustments expected in the suspension.

According to the renowned sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari, in anticipation of Lewis Hamilton, wants to implement a new configuration in the front suspension. The current push-rod system would be replaced by the pull-rod variant. Teams are free to decide which configuration they want to use. With a pull-rod suspension, the wheel pulls on a torsion spring to absorb irregularities such as kerbs and bumps. In contrast, a push-rod system pushes the suspension against a torsion spring.

These different systems can also be combined at the front and rear of the car. For instance, the rear wheels of the SF-24 already use a pull-rod suspension. In this respect, Ferrari is somewhat of an odd one out — rivals McLaren and Red Bull swear by a push-rod configuration at the rear.

According to La Gazzetta, however, the pull-rod system is the ‘cornerstone’ of Ferrari’s aerodynamics. It allowed the team to excel in tyre management this year. The Scuderia will have a revamped technical organization in 2025. Lewis Hamilton will encounter some familiar faces in the corridors of Maranello. Among others, engineer Loic Serra, who worked with Hamilton for a long time at Mercedes, joined Ferrari this year.
