Lando Norris has six Grand Prix races left to beat Max Verstappen – the Englishman has been embroiled in a fierce title fight with the reigning world champion for several months. Heading into the GP in Austin, he needs to make up fifty-two points on his rival. A significant lead, Norris acknowledges, as he contends with what he calls the most dominant duo in the history of the sport.
“I can’t predict the outcome,” Lando Norris said after the GP in Singapore about the title fight with Verstappen. “I’m working as hard as I can, but I’m sure Red Bull and Max are doing the same. They will continue to compete with us until the end of the season. All we can do is try to score more points and win as many races as possible.”
‘Most Dominant Combination’
“I still have a lot of points to catch up,” the 24-year-old driver continued. “It’s not going to be easy – we’re talking about Red Bull and Max (Verstappen), the most dominant combination Formula 1 has ever seen,” he referred to the 2023 season. Last year, the Dutchman won nineteen out of twenty-two Grand Prix races, an absolute record in Formula 1.
“It’s still the same team and the same driver – so essentially, this title fight is one of the toughest in the history of the sport,” Norris explained. “We’re doing better at the moment because we’re a bit faster, but that’s mainly due to the fantastic work the team is doing. They’re coming up with smarter and more ingenious solutions. I’m going to give everything to win, but in the meantime, he (Verstappen) is doing everything to prevent that. We’ll see how it turns out.”
