It was an unusual press conference following the qualifying session in Singapore. Max Verstappen barely responded to the questions posed to him, as a protest against his previously imposed community service. However, the Dutchman need not worry that his protest will lead to further punishment. The FIA has announced that no additional penalties will be imposed.

Verstappen drove surprisingly to the front row during the qualifying in Singapore, but the Dutchman’s impressive performance was not the topic of conversation after the session. The Red Bull driver refused to give answers longer than a few words during the press conference, as a protest against his community service. Verstappen received his community service due to coarse language during the press conference on Thursday.

Verstappen’s Protest: No Further Consequences

There were initial fears that Max Verstappen’s protest would lead to further penalties for the Dutch driver. However, the action has ultimately had no further consequences. The FIA has made it clear to various media outlets that there will be no additional penalties. “No, he participated in the FIA press conference as the procedures prescribe,” said an official spokesperson.

Hamilton’s Support

During the press conference, Verstappen received support from his colleagues Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton for his protest. Hamilton’s defense of Verstappen was particularly notable. “I think it’s a bit of a joke, to be honest. This is the pinnacle of the sport. Mistakes are made. I certainly won’t do it (carry out the penalty). I hope Max doesn’t either,” Hamilton advised his rival.
