Maya Weug finished second in the first of two F1 Academy races in Singapore this weekend. The Dutch driver, representing Ferrari in the women’s class, had to concede victory to Abbi Pulling after an exciting battle. Emely de Heus, the other Dutch participant, crossed the finish line in fifteenth place.

The gap between Abbi Pulling, driving for Alpine, and Weug was only two seconds in the final lap. The Dutch driver put up a good fight but ultimately failed to overtake the British driver. Mercedes driver Doriane Pin finished a distant third, crossing the finish line eight seconds later.

With the victory in Singapore, Abbi Pulling strengthened her first place in the championship. It was the sixth win for the 21-year-old British driver this year. Maya Weug has never stood on the top step of the podium, but finished in the top three twice in Zandvoort and Jeddah.
