Following disappointing results at the Italian Grand Prix, Red Bull headed to Azerbaijan with an upgraded RB20. On the opening day, drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez immediately showed strength; the initial practice sessions were promising. Engineer Paul Monaghan is positive about the car, although Red Bull will have to pull out all the stops to prevent losing the constructor’s title.

With only an eight-point difference between McLaren and Red Bull, there’s a high chance that the former could take the lead after this weekend. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have often been faster than their closest rivals in recent weeks. However, the race in Baku promises to be exciting. Red Bull seems well-prepared for the start with their latest upgrade.

Red Bull Racing Continues to Learn and Improve

“We are still learning,” said chief engineer Paul Monaghan to the media in Azerbaijan. “The biggest impact will only be seen in later races, but it’s good that we have been able to introduce the upgrade here.” The initial signs are positive; both Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez performed well during VT1 and VT2.

Hard Work and Continuous Improvement

“It requires a lot of hard work, and we will continue to work hard,” Monaghan continued. “Next week we will be in Singapore, so we may be able to make another step forward there.” The engineer admitted that the adjustments in Baku are only a small part of a new package. “This is not the biggest change, which also explains why we were able to come up with an upgrade so quickly. It’s quite subtle, but the effect can still be significant. Wait until Sunday afternoon,” he concluded mysteriously.
