Is Yuki Tsunoda on the verge of securing a seat with Red Bull? Despite the swirling rumors about Sergio Pérez’s future, Tsunoda insists that his situation hasn’t changed in the past three years. The Japanese driver believes that all he can do is continue to prove that he deserves the seat alongside Max Verstappen.

Before the summer break, Red Bull confirmed that Sergio Pérez would remain with the Austrian team for the time being. However, this hasn’t completely dispelled the uncertainty surrounding the Mexican driver’s future. Tsunoda, on the other hand, has secured his place in the Red Bull family for another year as a driver for the sister team, Visa RB. This keeps him in the running to potentially succeed Pérez.

According to Tsunoda, not much has changed in the past three years. He still wants to prove on the track that he deserves a Red Bull seat. “It’s the same as the past three years, you want to prove yourself not only to Red Bull but to all teams,” says the Japanese driver during a press conference in Zandvoort.

‘I’m Just Doing My Best’

The uncertain future of both Pérez and Tsunoda’s teammate Daniel Ricciardo in Formula 1 doesn’t give the Japanese driver false hope. “There’s a lot of speculation at the moment. I can’t control it, I’m just doing my best,” concludes Tsunoda.
