The countdown to the Dutch GP has begun, and we’re here to guide you on the journey to Zandvoort. In this eight-part series, we’ll highlight a unique story about the Grand Prix of the Netherlands each day. Today, part 7 focuses on the fan experience during the Dutch Grand Prix.

There’s no fan experience quite like the one at the Dutch Grand Prix. This is evident from the many wonderful stories and photos we’ve received this year. Many fans dream of attending a race, and sometimes, dreams do come true. Here’s a glimpse of the contributions we’ve received.

80th Birthday Gift

‘In 2020, Formula 1 returned to the iconic Zandvoort circuit. For my father, a fervent F1 fan, this was an unforgettable gift for his 80th birthday. With the most expensive tickets and a view of the start-finish line and pit lane, he was overjoyed. But then, unfortunately, the race was cancelled due to the pandemic. The following year, I was able to take my father to the Dutch GP. We left early in the morning to avoid the crowds. My father quickly found his seat and flag. The race was a spectacle, and the stands erupted in cheers when Max won. Although the atmosphere was fantastic, we watched the summary again at home. My father admitted he enjoyed watching it on TV just as much. I caught the racing bug and have been there every year since. However, that first time with my father remains unforgettable.’ – Jippe Tinga

Folding Bike Adventure at the Dutch Grand Prix

‘When Max became the world champion in 2021, my daughter and I decided that we wanted to attend a race. We chose the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort in 2022. On Friday, we took the bus and train to Zandvoort. On Saturday and Sunday, we cycled through the dunes on our folding bikes, following the Orange Army to the circuit. It was wonderful to see fans of all teams sitting together without any conflict. The event was fantastically organized, and it was exciting to experience such a weekend. To top it all off, Max won the race. The atmosphere was unique throughout the days, it was a real celebration. This experience made us decide to visit a circuit every year; last season we went to Barcelona, this season we’re heading to Silverstone.’ – Mireille Larooij

Cheers to the Dutch Grand Prix!

‘I have fond memories of the Dutch Grand Prix in 2023, which I attended with my sister last year. We experienced everything from rain to sunshine. It was my first time at the circuit. After an exciting qualification on a wet track, we were able to toast to Max’s pole position in the sun.’ – Patty Claassens
