Belgian Formula E driver Stoffel Vandoorne has signed with Maserati MSG Racing for the eleventh season of Formula E. Alongside colleague Jack Hughes, Vandoorne will join the team for the 2024/2025 season. Starting from early December, Vandoorne will take the wheel at Maserati.

Vandoorne has been active in electric motorsport since 2018 and became the champion with the Mercedes-EQ team in 2022. The driver claimed three victories, sixteen podium finishes, and eight pole positions during his time in Formula E. Before this, the Belgian was a driver for McLaren in Formula 1 for two years. Currently, Vandoorne drives for the DS Penske team, but he will switch to Maserati later this year. Vandoorne also serves as a test and reserve driver for the Aston Martin team.

Both Vandoorne and Hughes will make their debut for the Formula E team in Valencia, Spain, in the week of November 4. The two drivers will replace current Maserati drivers Maximilian Günther and Jehan Daruvala. The new Formula E season begins on December 7, 2024, in São Paulo, Brazil.

Vandoorne Excited for New Adventure

“I am very pleased to be driving for Maserati MSG Racing next season and I am proud to be associated with such an iconic name in motorsport as Maserati,” says Vandoorne in the official press release. “Although I have not previously worked directly with the team, I know the team well, both from my time at DS Penske and from my time at Mercedes when we shared a powertrain with Venturi.”

Vandoorne is therefore very much looking forward to his debut with the team. “It’s a great group of people, very capable, very determined and I really look forward to working with them. Hopefully, we will have a lot of success and fight together for victories and championships.”
