Max Verstappen Clears the Air with Engineer Gianpiero Lambiase

Max Verstappen shared insights on Saturday about the discussions and struggles he had with engineer Gianpiero Lambiase over the past week. After the turbulent Grand Prix of Hungary, the air was cleared. “Everything has been discussed,” assures the Dutchman.

Even before the qualification on Saturday, it was clear that Verstappen and his engineer were communicating as usual; substantive on one hand, with a touch of humor on the other. There were no signs of any struggles. During the free practice sessions at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, everything was back to normal.

“Everyone exaggerated a bit,” the driver reflects on all the commotion about the sometimes heated discussions with his engineer. “For us, it’s all quite easy to solve, that was no problem. I think everyone has disagreements sometimes, right?”

After Budapest, Verstappen and Lambiase spoke on Thursday in Belgium about the struggles, at the initiative of Christian Horner. According to Verstappen, “everything has been discussed.” But was there also an agreement to do things differently in communication, if necessary? “Not that, the most important thing is that we talked about it: what we all thought and how it goes this season. We did that.”
