Just a few days before Max Verstappen and his team take on the qualifying sessions for the Hungarian Grand Prix, there’s still a lot to be done at the Hungaroring. The region has recently experienced extreme weather conditions – a tropical storm ravaged the circuit on Wednesday, causing the pit lane to partially flood.

While multiple regions in Hungary have already been issued a red alert due to extreme temperatures, a tropical storm also swept across the country on Wednesday. The Hungaroring, the circuit where the Hungarian Grand Prix is to be held in a few days, was hit. Images of extremely high water in the pit lane are circulating on social media. Is it time for full wet tires?

The storm also caused damage. McLaren’s motorhome, which was already hit by a small fire during the race weekend in Barcelona, seemed to be the most damaged. According to bystanders, the roof of the building was ripped off by the strong gusts of wind. A large video screen at the entrance of the pit lane also fell to the ground.

In the coming days, it seems the rainfall will cease. During the race weekend, Formula 1 will mainly have to deal with high temperatures. According to the latest weather reports, the maximum temperature in Mogyoród will be 34 degrees Celsius.
