This year marks a special milestone for organizer Lee van Dam as he celebrates the 25th edition of Racing Day. After eleven years with Rizla and ten years with Gamma, Jack’s has been the main sponsor of the largest free sports event in the Netherlands for the past four years. “The concept simply works and appeals to a wide and diverse audience,” says the CEO of LDP from Assen.

Jack’s Racing Day will take place from August 2nd to 4th at the TT Circuit in Assen.

As part of the event, there will be a major competition where participants stand a chance to win a ride in a Formula 1 two-seater, alongside Tom Coronel or Richard Verschoor. Other prizes include helicopter flights over the circuit, a meet-and-greet with former F1 driver David Coulthard, two hospitality tickets, and fifty paddock passes.

The Success of Jack’s Racing Day: A Blend of Sport and Show

Lee van Dam believes that the key to the success of Jack’s Racing Day lies in the combination of sport and show. “We offer car racing, motor racing, and karting, along with a diverse range of side events. We have a variety of attractions, including beautiful cars, music, and shows. There’s something for everyone, from young to old. Personally, I’m particularly excited about the planned demonstration of the flying car by the Dutch company Pal-V,” says Van Dam.

In addition to demonstrations, including F1 show runs by David Coulthard in the 2011 RB7, there are also numerous races scheduled, including those in the BOSS GP. The BOSS GP is an extremely popular class featuring old Formula 1 cars. Van Dam adds, “An old Ferrari from Michael Schumacher will also be there.”

Lee van Dam: ‘A Huge Thrill’

Visitors also have the opportunity to book a taxi ride in a Formula 1 two-seater with Tom Coronel and Richard Verschoor at the wheel. “It’s a huge thrill,” says Van Dam, speaking from experience. He took the test himself years ago. “You get the feeling that he’s not going to brake for a turn. That only happens at the last moment, and then very firmly, and then the gas goes back on full. Your head is thrown all over the place…”
