British Formula 1 commentator Martin Brundle doesn’t foresee Carlos Sainz moving to Red Bull anytime soon. According to the Sky Sports analyst, Red Bull has had enough of fathers interfering in their sons’ careers. Brundle is primarily referring to the ongoing feud between Jos Verstappen and Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

With the continuing slump in form of Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez, rumors persist about how long the Mexican will remain in Formula 1. Speculation is also rife about who might potentially take over Pérez’s seat. Carlos Sainz is one of the candidates for Red Bull. The Ferrari driver will leave the Italian team at the end of the season. However, Sky F1 commentator Martin Brundle doesn’t believe the Austrian team will opt for the Spaniard anytime soon.

Conflicting Personalities in Formula 1

“I think the problem is that father and son Sainz and father and son Verstappen do not mesh well together,” the former F1 driver clearly states. Sainz and Verstappen were previously teammates at Toro Rosso, the then sister team of Red Bull. According to Brundle, this did not always go smoothly.

Furthermore, according to the Brit, Red Bull has had enough of issues surrounding the fathers of their drivers. “I think Red Bull is already struggling to deal with one father, let alone two.” With this, Brundle is referring to Jos Verstappen. The father of Max Verstappen has often clashed with Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

Is Lawson a Better Candidate?

Brundle, therefore, puts his money on reserve driver Liam Lawson, although the Brit does question whether the young New Zealander can handle the pressure. “The problem is, as a young driver next to Verstappen, you quickly break mentally. He [Verstappen] is so fast and he can handle a car that is a bit lively through the high-speed corners,” says the Englishman.
