Enrico Cardile, after nearly two decades of dedicated service, has announced his immediate departure from Ferrari. The technical director’s duties will be temporarily assumed by team boss Fred Vasseur, according to an official press release. Rumors have been circulating about Cardile’s potential move to Aston Martin, but the British racing team has yet to make an official announcement.
Ferrari revealed on Monday that Enrico Cardile will be leaving the Italian racing team. “After nearly twenty years with Ferrari, he has tendered his resignation,” reads a statement. “The chassis department will be led by our team boss, Frederic Vasseur, with immediate effect.” Cardile’s plans after his so-called ‘gardening leave’ remain unknown. The Italian is an expert in aerodynamics and joined Ferrari’s Formula 1 team in 2016. After serving as the chief of aerodynamics and head of the chassis department, he was promoted to technical director with Vasseur’s arrival.
According to the reputable Formu1a.uno, a deal between Cardile and Aston Martin has already been sealed. The British team recently bolstered their ranks with Mercedes veteran Andy Cowell, who will take up the role of CEO in October. Team owner Lawrence Stroll hopes to build a competitive team that can vie for world titles from 2026 with Honda’s assistance. With Cardile’s addition, Aston Martin becomes increasingly attractive to Adrian Newey, although the future of the master designer remains uncertain.
