It appears that number six is becoming Nico Hülkenberg’s lucky charm. For the second time in a row, the German driver managed to finish in P6 during a race. The Haas driver also qualified as P6 a day earlier, allowing him to start the British Grand Prix in sixth place. Hülkenberg is particularly pleased that he has been able to secure valuable points for his team.
While most of the attention in the race was directed towards Lewis Hamilton’s ninth British Grand Prix victory, Nico Hülkenberg was quietly delivering an impressive performance in the background. The Haas driver managed to capitalize on his sixth starting position, securing valuable points for his team for the second race in a row.
Hülkenberg Expresses Satisfaction with Solid Race Performance
“I’m very pleased,” says Hülkenberg about his solid race, speaking to F1TV. “I was able to score eight valuable points, but more importantly, the car’s performance is good. The update is working. That makes me very happy and optimistic for the rest of the season. We are now definitely part of the battle to become the fourth fastest team on the grid, something no one expected.”
‘It Was Like Roulette Today’
Despite Hülkenberg finishing in exactly the same grid position as he started, it was not an easy race for the German. “It was a very difficult race, especially with the rain at the beginning. It wasn’t heavy enough to switch to intermediates.” According to the driver, it was therefore also difficult for the team to determine the moment to switch to rain tires. “It was really like roulette today. But we managed to fight our way back to where we started. That was truly a deserved achievement.”
Hülkenberg is currently in his final year as a Haas driver. In 2025, the German will move to Sauber, which will be taken over by German Audi in 2026.
