Max Verstappen, the renowned Dutch racing driver, has once again been nominated for prestigious sports awards. At the annual ESPY Awards, Verstappen is in the running for the ‘Best Record-Breaking Performance’ trophy. This esteemed event, organized by American sports broadcaster ESPN, annually nominates athletes who have the potential to win an ESPY. Verstappen has also been nominated for the ‘Best Driver’ title.
The 32nd edition of the ESPY Awards will take place on July 11 in Los Angeles, UST. Former tennis star Serena Williams will host the ceremony. Max Verstappen is up for two trophies, including the ‘Best Driver’ title, which he previously won in 2023. This year, he faces competition from Ryan Blaney (NASCAR), Matt Hagan (NHRA), and Álex Palou (IndyCar).
Verstappen’s Record-Breaking Performance
Verstappen is also nominated for the ESPY for ‘Best Record-Breaking Performance’, thanks to his ten consecutive victories in the 2023 season. In this category, he competes against American football player Christian McCaffrey, basketball player Caitlin Clark, and basketball coach Tara VanDerveer.
Previous Nominations and Awards
Earlier this year, Verstappen was nominated for a Laureus Award. The 26-year-old driver could have become the ‘Best Sportsman of the Year’ for the second time, but the title was won by tennis player Novak Djokovic.
