Max Verstappen is gearing up for the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman holds the record at the renowned Red Bull Ring, having climbed to the top of the podium four times. This weekend, he hopes to add a fifth victory, though he is preparing for an ‘exciting’ race. The three-time world champion is counting on the Orange Army for the necessary support.
The Austrian Grand Prix is traditionally a home race for Red Bull, and star driver Max Verstappen has rarely let his team down on this famous circuit. Since 2018, he has only twice failed to secure a win here. Last year, the Dutchman once again dominated in Spielberg. Verstappen is looking forward to the race and the possibility of a fifth victory. So far, the Grand Prix in Mexico City is the only race he has won five times.
A Hectic Weekend Ahead
“The people are always very hospitable in Austria,” Verstappen shares in an official press release. “The landscape and the mountains are amazing, and it’s always great to see the fans of the Orange Army here and truly feel the support from the stands. This weekend is all about the sprint race, so it’s undoubtedly going to be a hectic weekend. The qualification is always very close here, so it’s important to get the car’s setup right from the start.”
In the current season, Verstappen can no longer rely on having the best car – Red Bull already assumed in Spain that McLaren has the fastest equipment. Fortunately, Verstappen has a trick up his sleeve. “The circuit is well suited for many overtaking maneuvers, so I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting race,” says the three-time world champion. “Hopefully, we can make the fans proud this weekend and go home with another victory.” For the spectators, it’s especially hoped that they bring an orange poncho – the latest weather forecasts do not predict good weather.
