The British Grand Prix is struggling with ticket sales. With the Formula 1 race at Silverstone just a few weeks away, ticket sales are lagging. While circuit boss Stuart Pringle blames the dominance of Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton emphasizes that the sky-high ticket prices are a bigger issue.
Lewis Hamilton, who holds the record for eight wins at Silverstone, knows that the British Grand Prix is a spectacular race. “It’s a fantastic event,” said the 39-year-old driver in Barcelona. “From a distance, you can see how massive it is. Every inch is utilized because so many fans come for the weekend.”
However, Hamilton understands why attendance is down this year – and it has nothing to do with Verstappen’s dominance. “They really need to do something about the ticket prices,” said the former world champion sternly. “Combined with the rising cost of living, the tickets are just too expensive. Imagine wanting to come with your family – it’s just extremely pricey. I think they really need to start thinking about cheaper alternatives.”
The simplest ticket for the British Grand Prix sells for the equivalent of five hundred euros, while a ticket for the grandstand costs over seven hundred euros.
