After a series of impressive races in 2023, Daniel Ricciardo has once again become a regular fixture at Visa RB this season. Many fans saw this as an opportunity for the honey badger to claw his way back to the top of Formula 1. Initially, Sergio Pérez’s Red Bull seat was the target, but after four mediocre races in the VCARB01, the Australian has other plans. Ricciardo wouldn’t mind spending another year with the sister team.

SpeedCafe asked him if he was open to another season with the team from Faenza. “Given how I feel now, yes,” responded Ricciardo. The driver has a one-year contract with Visa RB, but with Helmut Marko always watching over your shoulder, you’re always on your toes. “I enjoy driving here – it’s not so much about the results for me.”

However, he admits that he doesn’t just want a seat. “I want to earn it and help the team move up,” he explained. “It has to come from both sides. Yes, I want to stay with this team. But is it more fun to drive in the lead? Is it more fun to fight for podiums and victories? Absolutely.” According to Ricciardo, he wouldn’t have returned to the sport if he didn’t have confidence in his own abilities. “The whole reason I came back after a few months is because I believe I can be on the podium again and win races.”

Scoring Points

Visa Cash App RB was launched this season after the team parted ways with AlphaTauri sponsorship. Yuki Tsunoda seems to be adapting well to the new colors. The Japanese driver regularly shows that he has grown significantly as a driver. With multiple top ten finishes, he would also make himself popular among the competition. Ricciardo is still waiting for his first points of the season, which occasionally raises questions about his position within the team.
