Alpine announced today that David Sanchez has been appointed as the Executive Technical Director. The French engineer is making a return to Enstone after stints with Ferrari and McLaren.
Sanchez will oversee the technical department of Alpine’s Formula 1 team in Enstone in this role. He will be responsible for the team’s overall performance, engineering, and aerodynamics. Sanchez will join the team today and will report directly to team boss Bruno Famin.
Sanchez began his Formula 1 career in Enstone as a Junior Aerodynamicist for the Renault F1 Team in 2005. He brings a wealth of experience from successful periods with top Formula 1 teams, including McLaren and Ferrari. An interesting detail is that McLaren let him go after just a few months this year.
Team boss Famin is pleased with Sanchez’s appointment: “It’s clear that the car’s performance and development direction have not kept up with our ambitions as a team. We look forward to welcoming David and working hard together to achieve ultimate success.”
