Every race weekend, they make their appearance – the infamous time penalties from the FIA. When drivers misbehave on the track, the organization hands out decisive punishments. In addition to extra race time, F1 drivers are also penalized with so-called penalty points on their racing license. Any driver who accumulates 12 penalty points within 12 months risks a racing ban for the next Grand Prix.
Kevin Magnussen tops the list with 10 penalty points on his racing license. To add to this, his first penalty points won’t expire until March 2025. Until then, the Dane will need to stay out of trouble if he wants to avoid a racing ban. Alongside the Haas driver, Sergio Pérez and Logan Sargeant are also on thin ice. Both have accumulated 8 penalty points in the past 12 months. See the table below for a complete overview of all F1 drivers’ penalty points.
