On Thursday, Ferrari announced that Charles Leclerc will have a new race engineer starting from the Grand Prix at Imola. The Monegasque has to say goodbye to Xavier Marcos Padros, the Spaniard who has been providing him with on-board radios since his Ferrari debut. Padros will be replaced by Bryan Bozzi, Leclerc’s current performance engineer.
Ferrari revealed through a press release that Leclerc can now count on a new race engineer. “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Bryan Bozzi, who has been working in the team for ten years, will take on the role of race engineer,” writes the team. Xavier Marcos Padros, in turn, will use his ‘experience and knowledge to further develop other projects within the company.’
Remembering Padros
Formula 1 viewers know Padros mainly for his infamous radio messages. His now famous “copy, we are checking” is a fan favorite. For Charles Leclerc, who shared over five years of joys and sorrows with the Spanish race engineer, it’s a special farewell. “Thank you for everything and good luck with your new adventures,” he writes on Instagram.
