The Marina Bay Street Circuit (otherwise known as the Singapore Street Circuit) is a street circuit around Singapore's Marina Bay and is the venue for the Singapore Grand Prix. The track is 5.065 km (3.147 mi) long in a harbourside location similar in style to the Circuit de Monaco and the Valencia Street Circuit. The circuit is designed by KBR, Inc., a modification of the original one first proposed by Hermann Tilke. The circuit has a FIA Grade 1 license. The circuit holds a unique record of having safety car appearance in every race to date. There has been a total of 17 safety car deployments in ten races.

"It's a very physical circuit - more than I expected, actually," says 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton. "You need to put a lot of work into the car to get a good lap - I'd say it requires double the energy of Monaco over a single lap. One lap around here is like two laps of Monaco!"

Flashback 2017

The race was won by Lewis Hamilton after he managed to avoid an accident between Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso at the start from the fifth place. Daniel Ricciardo finished in second place, while Valtteri Bottas completed the podium. Carlos Sainz jr. Got his best result from his Formula 1 career with a fourth place by keeping the Force India of Sergio Pérez behind him. Renault driver Jolyon Palmer and McLaren driver Stoffel Vandoorne finished sixth and seventh, which is also the best result of their career. The top 10 was closed by Williams driver Lance Stroll, the Haas by Romain Grosjean and the Force India by Esteban Ocon. [source: wikipedia]
