The circuit uses everyday sections of road around the Albert park Lake which are normally opened for ordinary traffic.The circuit counts 9 corners and a maximum elevation change of only 2.6 meters between the lowest and highest points.

The Australian Grand Prix has always been more of a promoter event than a profit-raiser in itself. The contract was prolonged until 2023, although tobacco advertising has been banned since 2007.
Flashback 2017Daniel Ricciardo starts off the season in a terrible way by car failure while driving to the starting line. Hamilton starts from pole position just in front of Vettel and Bottas. The Red-Bull mechanics achieve to fix Daniels car while the race is two laps in progress.
Round 18 Hamilton makes a pitsstop driving in front of Vettel. Returning to the track as number 5 while Vettel takes advantage of the clear air in front of him. Lap 24 the German enters the pit for his first pitstop returning to the track just before Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
At last the transmission failes on Daniel Ricciardo in lap 28 forcing him to retire.
Alonso retires with only four laps remaining due to a broken suspension.
