The official debut of Renault in Formula 1 was in 1977 during the Brittish Grand Prix competing with the RS01. This was the first Formula 1 car with a turbo. In 1979 Renault managed to win the first Grand Prix. Currently the team competes under the name Renault Sport Formula One team and are associated with Formula One as constructor team and engine supplier for various teams like Red Bull Racing, Benetton and Williams.
In 2012 the team changed their constructor name to Lotus and operated as Lotus F1 Team until the end of 2015 when they returned to the control of Renault as a works manufacturer.
