The final Grand Prix of the year is upon us! Traditionally, the season concludes with the Abu Dhabi GP this weekend. It promises to be an unforgettable edition: three drivers – including reigning champion Max Verstappen – are still in the running for the world title. Will the weather play a significant role in the climax? Check out the full weather forecast for the Abu Dhabi GP here!
The Yas Marina circuit has been the regular venue for the final race in Formula 1 since 2009. However, only four times has a championship actually been decided in Abu Dhabi. In 2010, Sebastian Vettel clinched his first world title in the season finale, followed by Lewis Hamilton in 2014, Nico Rosberg in 2016, and Max Verstappen in 2021. The latter is chasing his fifth consecutive championship this weekend, but he will have to overcome McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Could the weather forecast for the Abu Dhabi GP possibly play into his hands?
Weather Forecast for the Abu Dhabi GP
It will come as no surprise: the conditions in Abu Dhabi hardly differ from what we are used to. Even during the season finale, it will be hot and bone-dry in the desert. On Friday, when the first free practice sessions are scheduled, it will be partly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. A gentle north wind will blow and the chance of precipitation is a mere 5 percent. Negligible, in other words.
This trend continues into the weekend. On Saturday, during the third free practice and the qualification, it will remain excellent in Abu Dhabi. The sun will shine brightly and the chance of rain is zero. The temperature will rise to a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, when the decisive Grand Prix is run, the conditions are again ideal. During the opening rounds, Yas Marina will be bathed in sunlight and it will again be around 29 degrees. In the evening, it cools down to about 25 degrees Celsius and there is no chance of rain.
