Oscar Piastri has re-entered the title race with his sprint victory in Qatar. The Australian has gained two valuable World Championship points with his win in the shortened race in Doha, overtaking championship leader and teammate Lando Norris, and leaving Max Verstappen behind. “Everything has been going smoothly in Qatar so far, but we need to keep it up,” Piastri remains cautious.

Interviewer Joylon Palmer welcomes the Australian back to the podium. “It’s certainly been a good weekend so far,” says a relieved Piastri. “Everything has gone smoothly, so I’m very happy with everything so far. Now we need to keep it up,” the McLaren driver refers to the qualification later on Saturday.

‘Everything is going well here’

The Australian is then asked what exactly is different this weekend in Qatar compared to the previous Grands Prix. “It’s clearly a very different circuit, much higher speeds. And the last few weekends, a lot of things just went wrong, and it wasn’t necessarily a lack of speed. Everything is going well here, and the pace is good. It’s also a circuit that I’ve always liked in the past, and that’s certainly the case again this weekend.” The Australian is therefore already optimistic for the qualification later on Saturday: “The foundation is incredibly good here in Qatar, so we won’t change too much.”
