Lando Norris made no bones about it after the sprint qualifying for the Qatar GP: the pole position is a satisfying compensation for the disappointing race weekend in Las Vegas. “This is what I came for and it’s a nice boost after Vegas.”
The McLaren driver sees good chances of winning the sprint race (Saturday at 13:00 UTC). “We are fast, but I expect strong competition from Mercedes and also from Ferrari. Moreover, this is not an easy track, but a very fast one. You have to pull out all the stops just in the last sector.”
According to Norris, the conditions are much better than last year. Back then, the race weekend in Qatar was in early October and it was much warmer and harder due to high humidity. “It’s better than then, yes. But that doesn’t necessarily make it easier to drive. There are plenty of challenges on this track. So watch out: it’s going to be a great sprint race, also for the spectators.
