In 2025, the Haas team has an entirely new line-up. Veterans Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hülkenberg have made way for Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman. The latter will make his debut as a rookie in Formula 1, while Ocon has been in the game for several years. The Frenchman is looking forward to the arrival of fresh blood and praises Bearman as ‘an exceptional talent’.

During the race weekend in Singapore, Ocon was asked about his future collaboration with Oliver Bearman. Is he looking forward to his company? “Absolutely,” the driver from Évreux responded. “What he showed in Baku was truly impressive.” Bearman stepped in for Kevin Magnussen in Azerbaijan, who had to sit out a Grand Prix due to a suspension.

“I think everyone in the paddock knows he’s an exceptional talent, and what he showed there was very impressive,” Ocon explained. “Not everyone is immediately so fast on such a technical circuit.” Bearman eventually crossed the line in tenth place and scored a World Championship point for Haas. Earlier this year, he also stepped in for Carlos Sainz and became the youngest Ferrari debutant in history. Then too, the Brit ended up in the points.

“It shows that he feels comfortable right away, no matter which car he drives,” said Ocon. Thanks to his stunts as a substitute, Bearman set a unique record; he is the first driver ever to score points for two different teams in his first two Grands Prix.

‘A Lot of Catching Up to Do’

“It’s great for him, for the team, and for me that he’s gaining some good experience before he starts a full season next year,” Ocon continued. The Alpine driver wants to get to know his future teammate a little better. “We’ve talked a bit, but we’ve been so busy that it hasn’t been enough,” he concluded. “This winter we’re going to spend a lot of time together and we can catch up properly. It was fantastic to see him shine in Baku – I’m happy for him and the team.”

After two successful stand-ins in 2024, Oliver Bearman will be on the grid with Haas next year.
