Fernando Alonso is experiencing a fluctuating season with Aston Martin in 2025. The Spaniard attributes the disappointing results primarily to missed opportunities and reliability issues within the team. According to Alonso, the points missed in the remaining races could have a significant impact on Aston Martin’s position in the constructors’ championship.

Fernando Alonso has already had five retirements in Grand Prix races this season, the highest number of all drivers, equal with Liam Lawson. Some of these retirements occurred while the Spaniard was still in the points, which makes the situation particularly frustrating. Especially now that Haas is only two points behind Aston Martin in the constructors’ championship. With three more Grand Prix races and a sprint race to go, only twenty points separate the sixth from the ninth place in the constructors’ championship.

“I would have liked to have more points in the championship,” says Alonso after the Brazilian Grand Prix. “We have lost 12 to 15 points due to bad luck with reliability: in Monaco with the engine, in China with the brakes, and in other races. Even in Monza, our suspension broke because a pebble from the gravel, coming from Lando Norris, hit my car.” Aston Martin is now only two points ahead of Haas, with three more Grand Prix races and a sprint race to go. Alonso looks ahead to the final phase of the season: “We will probably miss a few more points in Abu Dhabi, but we will do our best to beat Haas in the points in the next three races.”
