Racing Bulls team boss Alan Permane has spoken out about the future of his driver Isack Hadjar. The Brit is full of praise for the young Frenchman, but is uncertain where the 21-year-old will be driving next year. Will he be promoted to Red Bull, or will he stay another season with Racing Bulls? According to Permane, that decision is not in his hands.
Permane has been the team boss of Racing Bulls since this year, after previously serving for many years as the sporting director at Alpine. His young driver, Isack Hadjar, is making an impression – not only within his own team, but also with parent team Red Bull. However, Permane can say little about the Frenchman’s future. “We don’t know what’s going to happen. If he stays with us, we’ll obviously be happy; if he gets promoted, we’ll be extremely proud of the work that’s been done. But those decisions are not up to me.”
Although Permane is impressed by Hadjar’s performances in his debut season, the Brit emphasizes that he must be cautious with predictions about the Frenchman’s future. “It’s not for me to say whether he’s completely ready,” he explains. “What I can say is that Isack is incredibly fast, eager to grow, extremely persistent and mentally strong. On the day he changes teams, he can count on our full support.”
A Quick Learner
Permane is full of praise for the Frenchman’s speed and mental strength. “Isack is incredibly fast and adapts very quickly,” says the team boss. “A good example: he had never been to Singapore before, so just before the start of the first free practice I told him to take it easy and get to know the track. Yet, after just a few laps, he was already up to speed. He processes information incredibly quickly and knows how to translate it into performance – that makes him a truly impressive rookie,” says Permane.
